F.A.Q.s

Wedding Photographer F.A.Q.s

Q. What are the most important things to keep in mind when choosing a wedding
photographer?

A. The three Ps…Portfolio, Personality, and Price. Portfolio is most important
because you need to love the studio’s work before you book with them. If you
don’t love what you see on the blog and website, you’re not going to love your
photos. Personality comes next because you need to have a good connection with
your photographer, you will be spending a lot of time with them on your wedding
day. Price is last on purpose. Find someone you love and book with them. You
only get married once and you don’t want to leave this responsibility on an
uncle/friend/cousin.

Q. How many years have you been photographing weddings?

A. In an effort to keep from having to constantly update this, I will say that I have
been photographing weddings since 2006. There were a few weddings the
previous year, but those were shot with film.

Q. Do you shoot film or digital?

A. All photographs are taken with a professional Canon digital camera.

Q. What type of equipment to you use and do you have a backup?

A. I shoot with two Canon 5Ds (one is the main body and one as a backup) and a
variety of high quality Canon lenses.

Q. Do you have photos of an entire wedding that I can view.

A. Of course I do! All wedding galleries are online for friends and family to view.
They are password protected, so all you need to do is ask and I would be happy to
show you a full wedding.

Q. Do you have references I can call?

A. References are available and I will send you both email addresses and phone
numbers so that you may contact them at your convienence. Testimonials are also
available for viewing on my website.

Q. Do you post the proofs online or will I receive a disc?

A. All photos are posted online in a password protected gallery. You will also
receive a disc with low resolution files that are big enough to print up to a 5×7
inch print. All enlargements will need to be ordered through the website.

Q. How long do you keep our wedding on file?

A. All files are stored on location on disc as well as external hard drive for a
minimum of five years. Photos are guaranteed stored offsite (in case of fire) for a
maximum of one year from the date they become available for viewing online.

Q. Who will be photographing our wedding?

A. With Medcalf Photography, what you see is what you get. You meet with Nicole
to discuss your wedding and you hire Nicole to shoot it and Nicole is even the one
who will custom design your album!

Q. When will my gallery, prints, and album be available?

A. Galleries are almost always online within 2 weeks of your wedding date, there are
occasional times when it will take up to 3 weeks but this is very rare. Prints are
ordered as soon as payment is verified and take 7-10 business days to be shipped
to your door. Albums are custom designed in house and take 4-6 weeks to arrive
once you have given the thumbs up to the design.

Q. How many pictures will you take?

A. A typical wedding (with 7-8 hours of photography) will yield around 800 finished
photos. All photos will be included on your disc and in your online gallery.

Q. Do you carry liability insurance.

A. Yes…not sure how much to elaborate here for you, but I carry it to protect you as
well as myself and my equipment.

Q. What is your primary style?

A. My style is a bit contemporary and very clean lines. There is a good mix of
directed posing for the fun shots and traditional posing for family portraits. After
the ceremony it is almost all photojournalistic.

Q. When is a good time to set up a meeting?

A. Weekday evenings are best and I am happy to meet you at a local coffee shop or
at my home office in Lynden.
